This week I am thankful for:

Tender hearts that are moved to action to help those in need, who give so generously of their time, talents and resourses.

The beautiful melodies the birds sing to me each morning and the rustle of the bamboo as they nest at night.

The whistle of the train and the rumble it makes on the tracks and my Grandad who collected trains...

The dedication of our daughter to being healthy and fit and the example she sets.  (She just registered for her first half marathon!)

Sunshine that has arrived here this very day and, if the forecast is correct, should be here for many days.

What are you thankful for?

May your weekend be filled with many reasons to give thanks!

EDIT:  A reason I am trying to be thankful for is the departure of Google reader.  A new reason to be thankful is the addition of Bloglovin!  I successfully switched over the blogs I read and hope you will follow me there to read along or sign up for posts to be delivered by e-mail.  Thanks so much!

We have been having warm, moist (as in rain...) weather here this week and the raspberries are loving it.  These are 3rd year canes and they are producing wonderfully.  We are planning to double the patch next year for an even bigger yield.

I hope that means there will be much more of this yummy raspberry freezer jam in our future!

For another yummy treat check out my guest post today over at the lovely Bargain Hoot blog for an easy, DIY chocolate cake.  http://bargainhoot.com/2013/06/26/quick-diy-chocolate-cake/

May you find joy in the Creator and His creation this week!

This week I am thankful for:

Homemade ice cream topped with fresh picked raspberries ~ seriously, who needs dinner when you can have this for dessert?!

Sunglasses.  And the need to use them this week (even if only briefly...).

The encouragers.  Those who come beside and cheer you on.  The ones who make the days brighter, the moods lighter.

The pitter-patter of raindrops hitting the roof, watering the garden and keeping things green.

Beautiful, God-breathed,sunrises that start each day anew.

What are you thankful for?

May your weekend be filled with many reasons to give thanks!

The raspberries are starting to ripen (we had some with homemade vanilla ice cream last night for dessert) so it was a perfect time to incorporate them into a  yummy salmon salad.  You can find me guest posting about it today at Simply Fresh Dinners.  http://www.simplyfreshdinners.blogspot.com/2013/06/guest-blogger-today-mindy-whipple.html  (EDIT: Link was updated.  I apologize that it was not working!)

I'd love it if you would join me there.  And be sure to check out Robyn's fresh and easy recipes along with tips for healthy living while you are visiting.

This week I am thankful for:

Blueberry scones ~ fresh from the oven.  (Can't you just smell them!)  I will be topping them off with the raspberry/blueberry freezer jam I made this week.

Our first raspberries from the patch.  They barely survived the trip from vine to sink.

God's hand of protection on our Pastor and his wife who were in an motorcycle accident last weekend.  He sustained a compound leg fracture and she bumps and bruises but it could have been much worse.

The free entertainment the neighborhood kids provide.  It's like watching a reality show live and in person!

My Dad and the qualities of integrity and fairness he posesses.  (Love you Dad!)

This week I am thankful for:

The sunshine this week!  We don't get it often so we celebrate like it's a holiday around here.

The first strawberries from the garden ~ nothing tastes as sweet .

The first peas from the garden ~ I love that they come packaged in their own edible wrappers!

The FREE glass my husband scored for us from the door company.  The greenhouse may actually become reality.

My extended family who never give up on each other and who love each other no matter what.

All the young high school graduates donning cap and gown here this weekend.  May your futures be as bright as the promises of God.
