Giving Thanks Friday

This week I am thankful for:

The rain.  I feel for all of you who have been inundated with the wet stuff over this summer but here in the Pacific Northwest, where we are used to a lot of it, our summer has been pretty dry so a bit of moisture this week has been refreshing and a day or two of not watering has been nice (insert grin).

Fresh clams from the beach, gifted to us, battered and fried to perfection and served with fresh garden green beans and cherry tomatoes.  Our best dinner of the summer by far!

An informal afternoon lunch with good friends and good conversation.  I love friends who are just themselves with you and you are free to be the same.  Lots of laughter and lots of love.

A special English bone china tea cup given to me by a friend who was sharing from her mother's collection.  What a thoughtful gift!

My sweet little Grandma who is rooming by herself in the assisted living facility after Grandpa had surgery to repair a  hip fracture and is in the hospital still.  And bless her heart, with short-term memory loss, she keeps forgetting where he is.  Grateful for the patience shown and care provided by the assisted living facility and hospital staff.   Prayers for both grandparents are welcomed...

Fresh plums from my husband's co-worker.  I am planning to turn them in to jam today.

Our local county fair.  I love seeing all the well cared for animals, the lovely canned goods, jams and jellies all lined up on shelves, the lovingly stitched quilts displayed, the gorgeous paintings from local talents and ribbons awarded.  On Sunday's they offer free attendance during the morning, a community church service with rotating Pastor's speaking each year and a talented, blended worship team.  I love worshipping as The Church together ~ such a beautiful time.  Late afternoon brings the cheerleading expo, coordinated by our daughter.  There are little cheer teams all the way through high school teams.  It was a  great day, great weather and a chance for the locals to share their finest.

What are you thankful for?

May your weekend be filled with many reasons to give thanks!

(Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good: his love endures forever. Psalm 118:1)

  1. It sounds like your week has been very special, Mindy. You deserve it!
That teacup with it's fantastic blue colour is exquisite. The dinner sounds delish, I love clams.
This week I'm thankful that I have nothing special planned for the weekend because I'm going to rest. My job has been pretty stressful lately and it's time to refuel, lol.
Love coming here to give thanks, Mindy - it's so good to spend some quiet time just reflecting on all our blessings.
    Take care, friend.

  3. HI Mindy! I hope Grandpa gets well soon. Poor Grandma! Sometimes it's a blessing they don't know where they are. My mother-in-law had dementia.

That county fair sounds like so much fun! I went to a state fair once and tried all the deep fried stuff. Twinkies, Snicker bars...it sounds better than it was! LOL!

Total agreement about friends. What would be without them??

Thanks for being my blog friend!
