Giving Thanks Friday
This week I am thankful for:
My first grade great nephew, and watching him score 3 touchdowns in a row during his little flag football game, his arms raised arms in celebration as he crossed the goal line.
My great nephew's teammate who hugged him long and tight after each score. It was hilarious and heartwarming all in one.
The gorgeous fall foliage peeking through the fog on these crisp fall mornings. There is something magical as the fog lifts and the brilliant leaves appear.
Courteous drivers. I have been doing a lot of driving to places I am not familiar with and having kind drivers let me in before an exit I am about to miss or slow up behind me as I slow to be sure I am turning onto a correct road has meant so much.
Laughing with family at our inevitable foibles, like a bit of apple crisp rolling straight down from top to bottom of my husbands white T-shirt. He can wear any other color of T-shirt and never spill but the minute he puts on a white one...Shopping with my daughter and almost leaving the store without what we came in for.
Laughing with my daughter and Grandpa over a strawberry milkshake. The nursing home came alive with his presence this week as he shared story after story with us. Some of them were even true (grin).
God's ability to heal body, mind and spirit in ways beyond my comprehension. He takes our messes and turns them into messages, our ashes into beauty.
What are you thankful for?
May your weekend be filled with many reasons to give thanks!

DeleteHi, Mindy! Love your thankful lists and knowing you visit the nursing home. Your grandad sounds like a character. I am grateful today for time to catch up on a few projects. I will feel better getting some things off my plate!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan. Some days are easier visiting at the nursing homes (Grandpa in one and Grandma in assisted living) than other's but I wouldn't miss it. Just there again today in fact : )
DeleteHi Mindy! Happy Saturday :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so good with your family, and the way you support and keep up with them is so inspiring. Your little nephew sounds like he's going to be a force to be reckoned with on the football field! And I love shopping with my daughter, so I bet that was fun.
I am thankful for family. My Dad just had a medical procedure that turned out well, thank the Lord. We are heading out to visit my son's family this weekend, and to see my little grandchild...I am so blessed and happy. Our families are so precious.
Have a wonderful weekend :)
