Giving Thanks Friday

This week I am thankful for:

Birthday's: my niece who jumps into double digits today (Happy #10 Daisha) and my Grandpa who will slide in to 96 tomorrow.  Love them both!

Leftovers.  I know there is often controversy on this whole matter but I have to tell you that when I open up the refrigerator and there is leftover homemade soup, well, I am one happy lady : )

Those willing to go - like the lovely nurse Nancy, a single gal who packed up her worldly goods and moved to Russia, learning yet another language and braving the extreme cold, to work in HIV/AIDS education and more importantly the sharing of Love and Hope.

Clearance racks.  This time of year you can find some pretty good buys out there.  The trick is only purchasing what you need and not coming home with things just because they are a bargain.  (Sorry Mom!)

Heat.  Whatever source it comes from (wood, propane or our local power company), when the temps dip down and the icicles form I am so thankful for warmth.  Hoping I can stay just as thankful when the electricity bill comes...

Ice.  (Haha, I know, right?)  I love it's beauty outdoors, the way it clinks in my glass indoors and how it cools my currently sore throat.

What are you thankful for?

May your weekend be filled with many reasons to give thanks!

(Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good: his love endures forever. Psalm 118:1)

I will see you back the middle of next week with part two of Getting wet, diving in, going deep.  Thanks for reading friends!

  1. I'm all about leftovers too, Mindy. Almost everything tastes better the next day.
I need to find the time to get to the clearance sales. I love a good bargain.
I'm thankful for heat too. The fireplace has been on steadily these past weeks and I love the warmth it puts out.
I'm thankful that my little nephew is ok after losing 2/3 of his front tooth! It was quite traumatic for everyone involved and he's going to need extensive work but he is taking it in stride - the rest of us are a wreck, lol.
I know I've said this many times but I'm thankful to have this place to come share on Fridays, Mindy. (although I usually don't get here till Saturday or Sunday) You have created a wonderful spot for us all. Enjoy your weekend, my friend. xo

I love how you said you were thankful for ice because that reminded me that IN everything and FOR everything we can give thanks! Thank you for blessing me with your spirit of thankfulness.

    Love and hugs to you!

  4. I don't like to cook so I am thankful for my friend Dawn who recently taught me to cook all my meats at once and freeze them so they are ready when I need them. Whatever meat is leftover from meals I chop up and put in freezer bags to mix with spaghetti sauce for a quick meal.

    1. Great idea Pam! I don't eat much meat other than seafood so to have some ready to add for my husband to go with the veggies and salad I like would be wonderful.
