Giving Thanks Friday
This week I am thankful for:
Two elderly ladies with perfectly coiffed white hair in different, but similar, plaid wool coats out grocery shopping together. They were at the checkout in front of me and I was just fascinated by their joy at what many of us feel is the mundane and I loved how they dressed for the outing. I think they may have been sisters but, of course, can only speculate (grin). I bet they had some stories to tell...
A steaming pot of homemade vegetable soup. One of my all time favorite meals in the history of ever. Paired with a crusty loaf of homemade bread it is perfection.
Needle and thread through fabric creating useful. Both my husband and I ( along with several other family members) came down with a nasty bug the day or two after gathering for Christmas. Some of the effects were a bit lasting and so there have been many days of taking things at a slower pace around here. Thankfully we have recovered and energy has been restored!
Being part of a group of ladies willing to pray for one another in time of need.
A favorite song playing at JUST the right moment - an instant mood changer (insert dancing stick figure here).
The new Amazon Prime "little horse" commercial advertisement. Have you seen it? We have a DVR and I will admit to fast forwarding most commercials but this one - I stop for almost every time. It makes me smile so big!
Raindrops on rooftops. The sound is just SO soothing...
What are you thankful for?
May your weekend be filled with wonder, laced with peace and bursting with love...
(Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good: his love endures forever. Psalm 118:1)

ReplyDeleteI am thankful for my friend who sent me an encouraging email a few years back.... I reread it the other day and was encouraged again. Thank you, Mindy, for being that friend.... My life is richer because of you!
ReplyDeleteHi Mindy, what a happy post, so nice to read! I am thankful for my sister, we just spent most of the morning together, she is my best friend.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post, Mindy. I love vegetable soup, too! The rain brings me a lot of joy and living on the west coast gives you a whole new appreciation for it's beauty.
ReplyDeleteI love your writing and your fun observations on the world around you. You could put together the most joyful ebook if you published a collection of your posts, my friend.
I don't know the little horse but I'm off to google it now, lol. Enjoy your Sunday. It's nail biting time for me and my Steelers!
As I have said before, Mindy, I LOVE your Friday thanks lists! Thank you also for your beautiful blessing and may it all come back to you--May your weekend be filled with wonder, laced with peace and bursting with love...
ReplyDeleteI’m thankful for family. The good and ugly parts of it. The hard truth of it. But also the grace and love and growth of it too.
ReplyDeleteMindy, you made me perfectly picture those two plaid-coated old ladies and I’ve never wanted to be in line behind you MORE so we could’ve bought them a cup of coffee and asked them ONE MILLION questions. :)
I always love reading your Thankful Fridays posts!
ReplyDeleteHI MINDY!! So fun to see you writing again. Yay! I have seen that commercial with the little horse. That is one cute animal, I can see why you are so tickled to see him :)
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for a warm house, and for family. It was below zero last night, and we were graced with the presence of my sister and her family this weekend. So fun! Lots of family dinners, and we went out to see a movie last night too.
Hope you have a wonderful, warm, soup-eating-dinner day!
Blessings,
Ceil
