What I learned in September/Giving Thanks Friday
It is almost the end of September and today I am joining with Emily from Chatting at the Sky here to share what I learned in September.
What I learned in September:
I learned that letting hair be au natural in the high humidity is much easier than fussing with flat irons and curling irons. Why do we try so hard to create hair other than what we were given? #embracethecurl
I learned that I love lavender as much this year as I do every year I grow it. I love the look, the smell and the endless varities available. #lavenderlove
I learned not to judge a drink by its color. It's probably all the years working in a medical clinic but the new, sparkling green tea/pear juice I discovered this month looks just slightly like something that rhymes with tea when I pour it in my glass. But it tastes really yummy and is a much better choice than diet soda! #notdrinkingyouknowwhat
I learned that my 95 year old Grandpa is still a fighter. His body is weak, his is mind wandering but his spirit battles on. #notreadytolosehimyet

I learned that just because my husband says he likes the bit of color in the new bathroom towel does not mean that he wants me to add more color to our all white bathroom and that all the stress I endured trying to add color I did not like was for nothing. #thankfulfortargetsreturnpolicy
I learned that "shopping" in my own garden for produce is so much more fun than shopping for produce in the grocery aisles. Bonus: I can shop without a (bend down so I can whisper to you) bra. #shoppingbraless
I also learned that you must check your zucchini plants daily or the sneaky things will double in size when you are not looking! #whoanellie

I learned that fear can rear its ugly head in the most unlikely of places but God's peace is always greater. The key is letting go of fear and holding tight to Jesus. It's a lesson I learn time and again. #lettinggo
I learned that, despite the fact that I do not have a Twitter account, hashtags are kind of fun on a one time basis! (Thanks for putting up with them...)* * * * * *
If you are new to this blog, I try to share what I am thankful for each week, on Friday's. It's a good thing to be thankful. Some weeks it is harder than others but there is always, always something to be thankful for.
Sassy Little Signs available here
This week I am thankful for:
Celebrating my Grandma's 91st Birthday and that we got another year with her. It was a rough one for her and my Grandpa but they are powering through.
Drawstring fleece lounge pants. I can hardly wait to put a pair on during these cool, Fall evenings. On a stormy weekend you might possibly find me in a pair all day long : ) Inventor of fleece please stand up ~ I want to kiss you!
Growth. I love seeing God work on our hearts and in our lives bringing about changes only He can. I pray I never stop growing.
Garage Sales. Thankful that the rain held off until near the end when we were more than grateful to pack it up because, to be honest, I am most thankful when the sale is over...
People who are willing to step out, cause change and make a difference in this world.
What are you thankful for?
May your weekend be filled with many reasons to give thanks!
(Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good: his love endures forever. Psalm 118:1)

I enjoyed your "fake" hashtags, I don't have a twitter account either, don't plan to.
ReplyDeleteYour writing style is very uplifting, I enjoyed it alot, visiting from Chatting at the Sky and those September lessons!
Thanks Kathy! Happy to meet new people through the link-up.
DeleteThanks for the comment love! Loved the hashtag humor. Have you seen jimmy Fallon's skit on hashtag with Justin timberlake. Pretty funny!!! Wish we had a garden!
ReplyDeleteI did see the skit online - definitely funny. And part of the reason I don't have Twitter. But it was fun to try in this post : )
DeleteJust when I thought your LAST post was my all-time favorite, you go and write this! I laughed out loud on the "shopping" your garden one! I loved seeing this side of you--makes me realize we'd be all kinds of dangerous fun together. ;)
ReplyDeleteHa, yes I believe we could have some dangerous fun : ) We would need tissues for the serious tears and tissues for the laughing ones!
DeleteIt's great you have a garden to "shop"! Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteRenee
Thanks for your visit as well. Very thankful for those fresh veggies just steps from the house!
DeleteLove the hash tags, too funny! I keep meaning to try my hand at gardening but I'm not sure I'd be very good at it - the flowers I planted in my front yard did not really enjoy my remembering to water them once or twice a week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit Jen! I actually do better with veggies than flowers. My flowers are pretty low maintenance.
DeleteHi Mindy - So glad you stopped by my site a while ago because it drew (why does that not sound like a word? Am I being a knuckle-headed writer who uses a weird non-word but doesn't even know it's wrong?) Anyhow... glad it drew me to your site. We could be sisters (except for my lavender allergy). Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about words. I did medical transcription for many years and sometimes I would type a word that I have typed numerous times and it just looked wrong and sounded wrong. Glad my lavender is in pictures only for you!
DeleteLOL, Mindy, those hash tags are hilarious. You have definitely inspired me to expand my garden next year if only to experience bra-less shopping!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and truly look forward to visiting here each week, my friend.
Early mornings or late night I just slip a fleece on over my t-shirt - no doing that for the local grocery : ) I am blessed you keep coming back here!
DeleteHi! Thanks for dropping by my blog! It's nice to meet you! Currently we don't have a garden, but when we had it there were many perks :) I, too, love fleece pants! And lavender grows wildly here in CA and is lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that the lavender grows wild there! I had about 9 plants this year and dried several bundles. And I will be putting those fleece pants on this evening : )
DeleteOh Mindy! (lean in close..) I love this sense of humor I see here! What a fun post to read. And some of those hash tags? Priceless!
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of your curl, girl. I am a straight, limp gal. Go for it!
Ceil
Thank you Ceil. I hesitated to post because I certainly don't want to offend anyone with a bit of humor. But I also want to be myself ~ the me God made : ) So glad to have blog friends like you!
DeleteLove this post, Mindy, and your hashtags! What a great idea to do a post about what you have learned the past month. That will be a great reminder to pay attention. I can always use a reminder like that!
